Clay surfaces, with a puff of air from their hollow innards gives a format to draw into and onto. The shaped, rounded, curved surface then receives marks, images and colors much as another artist might use linen and graphite to make a drawing and as a poet uses words as metaphor to create a poem.
Over the years, many of these works have been made in series of four or six. At various times I return to a subject with new insight and inspiration. Each piece is one of a kind and reflects the time period and mental musings in which it was made.
