The Great Central Valley Project began in 1995 and continues with making and firing workshops, involving artists, environmentalists and groups of school children. (2017) Rock and Cairn making give the participants an actual hands-on experience with the rich natural resource so often thought of as just dirt. When others become involved in the actual making and therefore contemplation of the richness of the raw earth, there is a tremendous potential for transformation of consciousness and the generation of environmental awareness.
