21ST CENTURY MUSING
In the world of ideas there are major grand themes. These same themes are reflected also on a personal level. This contrast of scale, great to small, macro to micro, interests me as a sculptor. I am amused at the major ideas that can be packed into a tiny personal sculpture. As drawings, the viewer may find their own meanings and references. As poems, it is the artist’s intent to reveal the layering of visual images that together evoke a visceral feeling – one of knowing without words. Titles reflect the artist’s conceptual ideas while making. ‘Thoughtful Abstractions’ are Clay Poems made in my studio in Stockton. When I return from travels, residences, and periods of reflections; the box format gives me a reentry to externalizing my conceptual thoughts. These pieces do not reflect a linear time frame – they are poems of essence. |
